I stayed up til almost 3am last night waiting for my money to be
transferred into my account and I immediately paid for my course!
WOOHOO! I'm officially a student at Birth Arts International!
I have spent the last six hours drooling, reading, and researching
stuff for my class and it has been so much fun. I loved to learn before
this, but now I'm learning about things that I LOVE and it is just so
motivating!
In order to complete my certification, I
have to log a specific amount of hours doing Postpartum work. I was
talking to a friend earlier, wishing her a Happy Birthday (Happy
Birthday, Dez!!) and she actually referred me to another of her friends
who has just had her third baby - I believe he's a week old! I have
emailed her so we'll see if a client relationship, or even just a
friendship, comes out of this!

Oh hello there...
I'm one view away from 100 views - how exciting, and how sad! :P I quite enjoy having my own chunk of the internet world to myself. I don't have to talk about anything important at all.
I just got a scholarship to a program that will certify me as a Postpartum Doula. I am extremely excited to take this on! Birth, pregnancy and babies are obviously a huge passion of mine, and this course will give me the opportunity to turn that passion into a job. I will be back late to explain more about being a Doula when I get started with my classes, that way I can relay some of what I'm learning to you ("you" being my imaginary audience... hehe).
Just wanted to share how excited I am! :)

Harry Potter Butterbeer Cookies
The day that the final Harry Potter movie was released, my dear friend (and brilliant cook/baker) Treya slaved away in her kitchen at work and made these cookies (there's the link to where she found the recipe!). They were beautiful and delicious and made me feel so special, like I was a part of Harry's world. We were supposed to be making butterbeer as well but ran out of time before we had to drive to the movie.
I, being the experimental baker that I am, decided to try and make them on my own (well, with the help of another close friend). We didn't have the fondant or the edible images to put the house crests on the cookies, but they were just as tasty without them!

Here they are on our makeshift cooling rack.
The link provides the recipe and some much better pictures of what the cookies can be with a little extra hard work. We just couldn't wait long enough for them to "dry" and ended up eating most of them while they were still warm (which is the best way to eat them anyway, right?).
Pinned there, done that...
I have recently become a Serial Pinner. I cannot stop Pinning everything and anything. House decoration ideas, organizing tips, delicious recipes (like Bailey's Irish Cream Fudge or Cake Batter French Toast) and of course, tons of beautiful geeked out things.
If you aren't a member, let me tell you a little about Pinterest. This is what they say on their site:
"Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes."
Basically, you can pick a category such as "Food & Drink", "Kids", "Geek", or even "Humor" or "Women's Apparel". You are shown a huge list of pictures and videos, most of which will cause you to drool a puddle onto your keyboard. You click on the picture and you can choose to "Repin" it, "Like" it, or even comment. When you choose to Repin, you add it to your own collection. You organize this collection into "Boards". Some of my Boards at the moment include "Foodgasm: Sweeties" which includes recipes to tons of sweet and delicious-looking food (honestly, I could Pin recipes all day long), "Geekery", which is a collection of all things geek related (Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc), and I even have a board called "Halloweenie" where I have Pinned a ton of marvelous ideas for Halloween decor, costumes and food!
Seriously, guys and gals - get on Pinterest and follow me!

I wish...
...I had more time to read.
...I had less time to sit on my butt.
...I owned all of my favorite movies and television shows.
...I had a house that was a home.
...I had a spicy chicken quesadilla & a large glass of chocolate milk.
...I could sleep for a week straight and then stay awake for a month straight.
...I had more of an imagination.
...I had more to write about.
...I had a baby. :(
